Simple house keeping!

I am not the Worlds best housekeeper. Honestly I try and fail. After picking up the same shoe 12 times a day and putting it back in the closet 12 times a day I just give up. No one else in the house cares where that shoe is. And if I am successful at putting something away, others in this house will spend 15 minutes destroying a room in order to find it. I am outnumbered. So I came across this wonderful blog on Pinterest the other day.
Why did it work so well for me? Well Monday is my laundry day! So already I feel, I can follow this! EASY PEASY!
Monday, do all the laundry (which I usually get done) but it also said to never leave a room empty handed! Constantly pick up. Well the youngest had swim lessons, and then the oldest had gymnastics which provided me with a nice break from the silliness of laundry. I went to bed with one load of whites in the dryer and one load waiting to go in the washer.
Tuesday, clean the bathrooms! Okay, so I struggle to finish Monday's laundry and check the status of my stain removal technique for removing blue mouth wash off white marble that some one had spilled the day before and failed to tell me. Still blue, so I can't clean the bathroom. I know it makes no sense, but when something is wrong it ruins my day. I manage to clean 1 bathroom. It took me more than 15 minutes. Not because it was super dirty. I had a little helper who kept putting his shoes in the "closet" or better known as the bathtub, creating a nice mud puddle where I had just cleaned. Finally at 5PM I "finished" that one bathroom save the mopping it. None the less it was time to leave and take the little one to gymnastics. Upon return I cooked dinner and folded and put away the whites. Leaving one load in the dryer and 2 bathrooms to clean.
Today is Wednesday. Surfaces! I feel confident that I can indeed finish up that last load from Monday, clean the remaining two bathrooms, sweep & mop the floors, dust all the surfaces and have this place sparkling! After of course we return from our field trip and swim lessons, It will be nice because it will leave me with just enough time to complete SURFACES! And Monday's laundry and Tuesdays bathrooms. I will then have to squeeze in school time (Oh did I mention we homeschool). OH and I need to go buy dog food, and pay taxes on the jeep. OH and the oldest has gymnastics so I will have stop and take her. Yep I can do this!
Thursday organize something! I picked my closet. The oldest will do her desk. It will be fun! Because My closet has never been organized since we moved in! I just threw what ever I did not want to deal with when we moved in there! I am pretty confident that Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday's chores will all be done by Thursday so that after we are done with homeschool, I can tackle that beast once and for all! Oh and we have science at 1PM with our fantastic homeschool group, so I am sure I can fit it all in.
Friday tidy the house and vacuum everything including the stairs, thankfully I don't have stairs. As far as I know Friday is home day, meaning I don't have to leave the house. So anything I did not complete from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, can all be completed on Friday! I will keep you posted on how the rest of the week goes!

Homeschool and socialization

I am often beaten up with this. I don't care. Things like this often happen to me but today took the cake.
At the store today some one asked what school Emma went to (as it was during the day and she was not at school). I replied,"we homeschool." The look of shock and then immediate condemnation followed.
And this was their quote. " Oh My GOSH(will not write what they said) have you ever seen that episode of wife swap where the people homeschool? Their daughter went to college and to a party and she did not know what to do or how to act, she did not know she was supposed to drink!"
I rest my case.
Well almost, I can't leave that alone. If what you are telling me is that if I don't send my kid to school she will not learn how to drink in college your argument sucks. We homeschool remember! We can teach her to drink at home. Not really but come on! Is that the pride of any parent? It is the hope of every parent that their kid will go to college and study and not drink! We don't live in la la land. I realize the temptation will be there and by homeschooling them they will not be protected from such realities. But don't try to tell me I am screwing up my kid because she is not learning how to socially drink alcohol or smoke pot or curse. Your theory was debunked the minute you used a reality tv show (that blows by the way) to tell my kid may never learn how to act like an ass!
